I am a homeschooled 12th-grade student who has had the opportunity to shape much of my education around the things I care about most: science, public service, and the arts. Science has been a particular passion of mine for as long as I can remember, and homeschooling and college-level coursework have allowed me to pursue it well beyond the classroom through STEM activities, research, engineering projects, and hands-on experiences. I especially enjoy using science to investigate real-world problems and then asking whether there might be a better or more creative solution. At the same time, public service, and the arts have helped me develop other important parts of who I am and given me opportunities to serve my community, collaborate with others, and be creative.

My biggest goal is to become a veterinarian, a career that brings together my love of animals and science with research, problem-solving, compassion, and service. I have already begun exploring that career through veterinary shadowing and working part-time in a veterinary practice, where I have gained firsthand experience with animal care and the many responsibilities involved in veterinary medicine. My interest in animal health has also led me into biomedical research and engineering, including developing prototypes to address problems involving equine respiratory care and monitoring. These experiences have shown me how veterinary medicine can intersect with biology, engineering, research, and innovation.

In the future, I hope to care for animals as well as work to develop better approaches to veterinary care and improve access to it, such as by establishing a mobile veterinary clinic. Ultimately, I hope to build a career that allows me to keep asking questions, solving problems, and making a meaningful difference for both animals and the people who care for them.
